Copier/Printer: For the benefit of our patrons, the Library has a networked Xerox Work Center M118 copier/printer which makes both standard and legal sized copies and prints. The

can enlarge and reduce images. Each print or copy is 15 cents per page. The cost of making copies or printing internet pages is 15 cents per page. The Library observes all laws and regulations pertaining to copyright. Patrons using our equipment are responsible for any infringements of copyright laws.
Computer Services: The Mendon Public Library offers a variety of computer services. These services include internet access, printing, and Microsoft Office applications. Whether you want to send email, work on your resume, or just browse the World Wide Web, you are welcome to do so here at the Mendon Public Library.
Fax: Fax services are available; the charge is $1 a page for local faxes and $3 a page for long distance. Charges cover telephone costs, including long distance. International faxes will be charged an additional $1 per page. The Mendon Library staff will fax the documents from the Library’s fax machine. Outgoing faxes will be sent as expeditiously as possible, depending on availability of staff. Incoming faxes to (585) 624-4255 will be charged $1.00 per page. Patrons expecting a fax must call the library at (585) 624-6067 to see if it has been received. The library accepts no responsibility for missing pages, bad transmissions, or incomplete patron identification.
Microfilm Reader/Printer: Thanks to the generosity of Senator Alesi, the library has a microfilm reader/printer/scanner available for the public. This is used primarily to view the historical issues of The Sentinel newspaper in the library. Prints are 15 cents per page. This machine also has the ability to enhance images and e-mail the images. The Friends also recently added a motorized advance carriage for your convenience. Library staff is available to help you use this machine.
Optical Magnifier/Large Print Materials: The Mendon Public Library, through the generosity of the Thiem Charitable Foundation, now has for use by its low vision patrons. The Clearview optical magnifier is connected to a monitor. It has a smooth-riding table which can accommodate books, magazine, and photos; wrist rests; and pencil holders. Controls include instant focus; one touch zoom; position locator; and photo, reading, and reverse reading modes.
The Library has devoted a substantial proportion of its collection to large print books. We also maintain a collection of books on tape and cd, for patrons preferring this format. A cassette player is available for check out.

Bookdrop: We encourage you to use the book drop available in our lobby when the library is closed. The Book drop is open 24 hours a day at the library. We also have a book drop located at the Mendon Meadows Mall for your convenience. This is a convenient way to return books and materials. If the materials have an overdue fine, you can pay the next time you are in the library. Please note the book drop is checked only in the morning before the library opens. Items deposited in the book-drop will most likely be checked in the following day, which may result in an overdue fine. To reduce the risks of an overdue fine please return materials inside the library when the library is open.
Rotating Collections/Shut-In services: The Library partners with the Pinehurst Senior Living Center and Totiakton Housing in providing rotating large print collections for the residents to enjoy. The library also offers a shut-in library card for patrons unable to come to the library. Call the library for more details.

Television/VCR/DVD Player: For your convenience the library has a television, VCR and DVD player for your use. Thanks to the generosity of the Time Warner Cable, the television supports a connection to Road Runner basic cable services. These items must stay in the library and are available when the room is not otherwise occupied. Staff will assist you in using these items.
Tax Forms: The library has many tax forms available for free during January - April. We also have schedules and other forms in the library available for photocopying (15 cents a page). We provide free internet access to obtain forms directly from the U.S. Dept. of Internal Revenue and the New York State Dept. of Taxation. While we provide tax forms through our services, the staff at the library is not able to give tax advice.
Cars: We keep the N.A.S.D. Official Used Car Guide on file, as well as recent issues of Consumer Reports and the Consumer Reports Buying Guide. The Libra web site has links to the Kelley Blue Books site and Edmunds, for new and used car pricing.
